ISME invites microbial ecologists from around the world to submit abstracts for consideration for inclusion in the ISME20 programme. If you wish to be considered for an oral presentation, short talk, or poster, please submit your abstract by 15 February.
The 20th International Symposium on Microbial Ecology (ISME20) is the premier global conference in microbial ecology, bringing together researchers from environmental, human, and biotechnological disciplines. By submitting an abstract, scientists have the opportunity to share their research with peers at ISME20, to be held in Auckland from 16–21 August 2026.
All abstracts will be reviewed by experts in the relevant field. It is therefore important that submitters select the most appropriate topic for their abstract. The sessions available for submission can be viewed on the ISME20 programme. Please read the session descriptions carefully to ensure your abstract is submitted to the correct session.
The submission deadline is 15 February. All submitters will be notified whether they have been allocated an oral presentation, short talk or poster presentation by 30 March.
Early Career Scientists may upload their travel grant application during abstract submission. Guidelines and further information are available on the ISME20 webpages. ISME Members with primary caregiving responsibilities are also encouraged to consider applying for a Primary Caregiver Grant.
