Although the 20th edition of the International Symposium on Microbial Ecology is still a year away, behind the scenes, ISME is busy preparing all the necessary arrangements to ensure it is a success. The ISME20 Local Organising Committee, led by Mike Taylor, has put a fantastic programme together in collaboration with our International Board.
As part of this programme, ISME is eager to share the names of the eight internationally renowned microbial ecologists who have confirmed they will be joining us in Auckland.
The first three keynote speakers have already been announced, namely the winners of the ISME Tiedje Award, the Winogradsky Award and the Alma Dal Co Award. They will receive an award during their keynote lecture at ISME20.
- Tiedje Award Winner Janet Jansson, USA
- Winogradky Award Winner Noah Fierer, USA
- Alma Dal Co Award Winner Isabelle LaForest-Lapointe, Canada
Joining the ISME award winners are five thought leaders in the field, namely:
- Peer Bork, EMBL, Germany
- Wanda Markotter, University of Pretoria, South Africa
- Matthew Stott, New Zealand
- Margaret McFall-Ngai, CalTech, USA
and Bird’s Eye View Speaker Maureen O’Malley, University of Sydney, Australia.
More information on the symposium’s Keynote Speakers can be found on the ISME20 website.
ISME is excited to include these amazing scientists in the ISME20 Programme and looks forward to hearing their keynote lectures during the symposium.
