We are delighted to announce that registration for ISME20 is now open. The 20th International Symposium on Microbial Ecology will take place in Auckland, New Zealand, from 16–21 August 2026. Register before 1 May 2026 to take advantage of early bird rates.
New Zealand has a vibrant microbial ecology community, and we are excited to bring ISME back to where the very first symposium was held in 1977. Five decades on, ISME meetings continue to grow in scale and impact. The symposium will be hosted at the newly completed New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC), a stunning venue in central Auckland overlooking the city and harbour.
A wide range of accommodation and dining options are available within walking distance of the venue, along with easy access to pre-, mid-, and post-symposium tours. From hot springs to harbours, mountains to museums, and whale-watching to wine-tasting, the Auckland region offers something for everyone.
Together with the ISME Executive Board, and building on input from the global microbial ecology community, the Local Organising Committee is developing an exciting and inspiring scientific and social programme. Be sure to check the website regularly for updates.
Late abstracts submissions are still being accepted for poster presentations only. These submissions will be reviewed after the deadline of 12 April and are separate from the initial abstract round.
